Background information about cultures, countries, the inclusion and the immigrant experiences can help inform learning and teaching. Behavior appropriate in one culture may be misunderstood by members of another with potential to be misinterpreted and even to offend. Behavior may reflect a relationship to school or teachers different from that we are familiar. Additionally, the immigrant experiences can affect a student and family's relationship with school or learning in an outdoor environment.

The intent of this wiki is to increase our awareness. The reader is cautioned to not conclude that all from a culture behave or believe the same. Individual students and families are likely to reflect subgroups as well as their unique experiences. There are, however, some commonalities that can inform our relationships and help to create inclusive learning environments.
