After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Clothing & Textile Design at Washington State University 22 years ago, Debbi, a Seattle native, began her career working in special events and wardrobe consulting at Nordstrom. Wanting to make a dramatic career change 12 years later, she left to attend the University of Washington where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. As founder and President of IslandWood, she currently spends her time working to complete the funding and design for this residential educational facility, which will serve Seattle area children. The center offers year-round overnight programs linking ecology, technology, and the arts. While having been a past board member to Cancer Lifeline, she continues to support that organization and to spend time with two little girls who lost their father to cancer.
