An organism living on or on another living organism (host) from which it extracts nutrients, one of the three ways a fungi can get nutrients. One example of a parasitic fungi, seen at IslandWood on the leaves of the Big Leaf Maple trees, is the Tar Spot Fungus (Rhytisma punctatum) , at IslandWood, often known as "Zombie" Fungus.
