A prey is an organism that is hunted and killed by a predator for food. Prey organisms often lack the tools necessary to defend themselves from predators. Predators often select the weak, crippled, or diseased prey to attack, thus culling the weaker individuals in prey populations. Some common prey species at IslandWood are Douglas Tree Squirrels, Chipmunks, Mice, and Rabbits.
